The popularity of Dublin as an established tourist destination has been constantly increasing. The city is the perfect gateway to Ireland, and thanks to its high-quality tourist facilities, it has become a sought-after destination in its own right. If you are looking for an exciting and cosmopolitan destination for your next break or holiday, consider booking your flights to Dublin. You won't be disappointed!

Flying to Dublin and getting around the city

The local airport is a hub for several airlines that offer low cost flights to Dublin from many cities in Europe and the United Kingdom. Other carriers offer cheap flights to Dublin from the United States, Canada, and the Middle East.

The Aircoach is the fastest option for an express bus service to the city centre. Buses depart every 15 minutes from outside arrivals in terminals 1 and 2, operate 24/7, and take half an hour to reach the city. Single tickets cost €9.

There is another express service connecting the airport and downtown Dublin (called the Airlink bus), which is slightly cheaper at €6. Alternatively, you may take city buses 16 and 41, which cost €2.65 and go from the airport to O'Connell Street. If you are travelling as a group, you may want to consider taking a taxi to the city, as fares average €25 per journey.

Visitors who plan to stick around the city centre can use the local light rail sytem known as Luas, which has stations in the most popular areas of Dublin. A one-zone ticket costs €1,50.

Sights and activities in Dublin

A visit to 800-year old Dublin castle is a must for every visitor. Guided tours are inexpensive at €4.50 per person, and they give access to the magnificent State Apartments, which you wouldn't be able to visit otherwise.

Take advantage of Dublin's seaside location and spend a day at Dublin Bay. The bay is not only a great place to stop for a drink or for lunch, but it also offers lots of exciting entertainment options, such as sailing tours, kayaking, and powerboat excursions.

Dublin is a paradise for shoppers, as the city hosts many street markets and is home to exclusive malls and department stores. Take a look at the Arts and Crafts market for reasonably priced handicrafts, or head to the Dublin flea market or Blackrock market to browse through hundreds of bargains. If you are near Christchurch cathedral on a Saturday, don't miss the lunchtime market, where you can grab your favourite snacks, whether they are German sausages or falafel.

Lastly, no trip to Dublin would be complete without a visit to the Guiness Storehouse or the Jameson Distillery. End your trip to Dublin with a few pints at an authentic Irish pub.
